Crossing green fields, forests, lakes and mountains, Princess Jade’s balloon floated further and further away from the Eastern Pearl. Going west was what the Magic Mirror told her. Princess Jade checked her compass and map again. ”I guess just a few miles more and I will enter Cyberland.” said Princess Jade to herself. “Got to look out for the World Wide Web Mountain.”Princess Jade leaned on the edge of the basket, feeling the wind in her hair, enjoying the beauty of nature and her solitude. It was a warm sunny day. Birds flew pass the blue sky and disappeared behind the clouds. Underneath the basket was an endless piece of green with occasional patches of pink, yellow and violet. In the excited young lady’s eyes, everything seemed to be smiling at her.
She was too overwhelmed with this peaceful sight to notice the exceptional quietness around. All of a sudden, the balloon was caught by a strong wind. It was a fierce storm and Princess Jade lost control of her balloon. She grabbed tight to the basket to avoid being carried away by the wind. The balloon went up and down, spinning round and round. Finally it fell into a forest and hung among the trees. Princess Jade tumbled to the ground feeling nauseous but unhurt.
When she became conscious, she felt that someone was staring down at her. She looked up and saw a man with white beard, wearing a deep blue robe and a tall pointed hat. ”Hello young lady!” said the man with a friendly smile. “Sorry that my wind interrupted your trip.”
”Your wind?” asked the confused Princess Jade as she tried to stand up. “What do you mean by that?”
”Ha ha!” grinned the man. “I was practicing my spell. Let me introduce myself. I am the Wizard of the Wind. So now you see why that was my wind? Ha ha!”
”Oh, hi Mr. Wizard of the Wind!” said Princess Jade while shaking hands with the wizard. “Should have noticed that you are a wizard from your outfits. I am Princess Jade and I come from the Eastern Pearl.”
”So I met a princess, what an honor!” bowed the Wizard. “You can just call me Windy, your majesty.”
”No no no.” said Princess Jade shyly, “I am now on a trip, so please treat me as a friend and call me Jade.”
Jade gazed at her wrecked balloon and sighed, “Oh no, now how can I continue my journey to Cyberland?”
”Ha ha Miss Jade,” laughed Windy, “welcome to Cyberland! My wind must have helped you for an early arrival.”
”What?” shouted Jade in surprise, “I am already in Cyberland? Wow, that’s great! However I now lost my balloon and couldn’t fly anymore.”
”Fly? Oh that’s a piece of cake!” said Windy proudly.
Windy took Jade’s hand and up they went into the sky. It was too fast for Jade to realize what had happened. She glanced at Windy by her side and for a moment she was astonished to find herself flying with Superman! It must be an illusion, flying hand in hand like a bird with the prince charming of her dream.
After surfing in the air for a while, they landed back to the forest. The blushing Jade looked up at her Superman and found that it was Windy instead. ”How do you like your real flying experience?” asked Windy, ”Was it wonderful to fly like a bird?”
”Wow, that was awesome!” cried Jade. “You can change your identity too?”
”Oh yes, I thought it would be impressive to let you fly with Superman, the hero in almost every girl’s eyes!” explained Windy with a smirk on his face. “I can transform myself to different identities in split second. Sometimes I am Windstar, sometimes Windpeak, a Jaguar or even a GolfingNut!”
”Can’t believe that I can really fly!” said Jade.
”Oh yes, you can. You just need to have faith and courage!” said Windy in a teacher’s tone. “How could you continue your trip if you don’t have faith in yourself? By the way, why would a princess like you travel alone to Cyberland all the way from the Eastern Pearl?”
”Actually I am looking for Section One, the group who put up the wonderful show La Femme Nikita.” said Jade eagerly. “They were gone after performing at my Palace Theatre for three years. I love the show so much. I got their Cyberland address and decided to find them by myself. That’s why I am here.”
”Oh that awesome show, I have seen it too!” replied Windy. “I really love the actress who played Nikita. She is so charming!”
Jade was glad that she met another LFN fan. They had a nice long talk about the show, discussing the characters, plots, clothes and music. They talked and talked until the sun set and the beautiful new moon was high up in the sky. Windy swayed his magic wand above a pile of branches and instantly made a fire. Jade went to her wrecked balloon to find food that was remained in the basket. They shared a simple meal of ham and bread. Their joyful conversation continued till it was dawn.
Jade knew it was time to carry on her journey. She asked Windy about the address she got, hoping that he could give her some directions. After thinking for a while Windy said, “Well I am not quite sure about the location. However, I can accompany you on your search. After all, it is too dangerous for a girl to travel in Cyberland alone.”
”You are willing to go with me?” cried Jade with joy. “Oh thank you so much Windy! I would love to have your company.”
”Now let me mend your balloon first.” Windy pulled out his magic wand from his sleeve and swung it casually at the deflated balloon. Quickly the wreck disappeared in a twister. After a few seconds, the wind vanished leaving a brand-new balloon on the ground. With another sway of the magic wand, the balloon shrunk to the size of a tiny mouse.
”As you are starting a search, you now have to go on foot.” explained Windy with a confident smile. “You can now keep your balloon in your bag. I will change it back to the original size when we need it.”
”You are so clever!” said Jade with a smile, “I am so glad that I met you.”
Heading west in the pine forest, Jade and Windy chatted happily all the way. Jade found herself very lucky to have met a man with words of wisdom. It could never be a better start in Cyberland than meeting a nice friend.
